Introducing Craft Nouveau

A series of collections advancing intersections of generative art and craft

TRAMExCPG

In collaboration with TRAME, Art Blocks Engine, and artist Alexis André, Crypto Packaged Goods is proud to introduce Navette: the genesis collection from Craft Nouveau.

Craft Nouveau pairs creators at the forefront of generative art with acclaimed designers and masters of traditional craft. Through the marriage of coded and craft, Craft Nouveau produces an unparalleled ownership experience through visionary digital artworks paired with one-of-a-kind physical counterparts from top ateliers.

Navette: A Voyage Between Worlds

Navette is created by renowned Art Blocks artist Alexis André, who holds a doctorate in Computer Science and has been coding creatively for over 20 years. André enjoys imagining how to bring artistic concepts to light in new ways through his sophisticated digital outputs.

Navette explores a juxtaposition of the virtual and reality by fusing a digital generative process and a physical loom. This collection offers a voyage between the worlds, a shuttle weaving between the two. Using a combination of digital techniques adapted for the physical world, Navette plays with the notions of series and unique pieces, but also of the inherent randomness of the digital realm—featuring the infamous “glitch.” Generative art thus becomes a way of taking a shuttle to the edge of a new universe.

What’s Ahead

An exhibition and cocktail reception celebrating Navette will take place at NFT Paris on Thursday, February 23 at the distinguished Parisian department store, Le Bon Marché. Together with TRAME and Art Blocks Engine, CPG will reveal the first generative artwork alongside its physical counterpart—a large scale tapestry woven on the looms of French atelier Néolice.

The generative mint of 300 NFTs will take place online in a Dutch auction on March 2 at collectibles.trameparis.com. The first eight minters will be airdropped an NFT redeemable for a tapestry of their digital artwork.

Next week, we’ll reveal more about Alexis André and dive into the process of Navette, hands on with the looms and shuttles of Neolicé.
